This course is designed for high level undergraduate students who major in fluid mechanics, aircraft engineering, aircraft design and engineering. It can also be an elective course of postgraduates and Ph.D students. The course mainly includes: turbomachinery aeroelasticity; flutter predict methods; non-reflecting boundary conditions; the solution to mistuning system.
Dr. Petrie-Repar is a director and co-founder of RPMTurbo, an Australia based engineering consultancy specializing in aeroacoustic and flutter analysis for the manufacturers of gas turbines, steam turbines and aircraft engines. He was an associate professor in KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), Sweden from Feb 2015 to May 2019, and the coordinator of a large European Union funded (budget 7.5 million Euros) research project called ARIAS. The aim of the project was to investigate blade vibrations in aircraft engines. The members of the project included all major European aircraft engine manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce, Safran, Siemens and GE Avio. He worked in German Aerospace Center (DLR) as a research engineer from Nov 1999 to Nov 2004, where he developed an efficient and robust linearized method for the engineering analysis of blade vibrations in aircraft engines, gas turbines and steam turbines that was subsequently used by Siemens Power Generation.
